WORKSHOPS: PUBLIC

The following 90 minute workshops are designed for the person or couple who wants to get assistance on psychological concerns outside of a traditional therapy format. Workshops are not therapy and have a more psycho-educational format.  Workshops are offered in small groups of up to 6 people (or 3 couples), and are offered at various times and locations throughout the year. If you have an interest in a workshop, please give me a call to discuss your needs and determine the offering that best suits your situation.

INDIVIDUAL WORKSHOPS          (top)

Imagine Biting Into a Lemon
: That phrase makes your mouth water because the mind and body are powerfully connected.  This workshop teaches you to begin to utilize that connection to cope with stress and enhance your overall health and well-being.  Through information and practice you will come away with specific methods for using the mind/body connection in your daily life.

“To Sleep, To Sleep, Perchance to Dream…”:  All too often the time for rest and renewal becomes a  time for tossing, turning, and panicking at the clock ticking.  This workshop is designed to give you simple skills to improve your sleep patterns and strategies for understanding your dreams to allow for more restful sleep. Tracking your sleep patterns and dream content prior to the workshop can enhance your learning experience.

Finding Light in Your Shadow: the Art of Intentional Living:    Often we can find ourselves repeating negative and self-destructive life scripts that seem beyond comprehension of our friends, family, and even ourselves. This fun workshop creatively helps you uncover your individual life script and open new pathways for authoring your own vibrant, empowered, and authentic life.

When I Grow Up… Oops, I already am! Help!:  This workshop offers avenues for better understanding your  unique personality, values, and  skills and how to use that understanding when picking a more satisfying career path.  This is perfect for the student debating different career paths as well as the professional considering a career change. (Note: Scholarships are available for the unemployed)

Bears, Trees, and Me: Finding Time for Renewal.  All too often, we stay in motion without ever going dormant and allowing for deep rest and renewal. This workshop is designed to help you identify different ways to think and respond along with specific skills for renewing your depleted psyche.  The goal is for each participant to leave the workshop feeling a little lighter, and with a plan to keep it that way.

Stress Management and The Power of the Mandala:
Perhaps the most well known mandala is the common Yin-Yang symbol, however, the mandala has an infinite number of expressions.  From complex Tibbetan sand circles, to native American prayer wheels, to the stain glass in the Notre Dame cathedral, the mandala is known for its centering and integrating effect on the human psyche.  This fun, experiential workshop will offer ways to utilize the mandala as a way to manage your stress and enhance personal growth.  (Note: While this workshop involves creative expression, it requires NO creative talent)

Sex Talks: Where Did My Sex Drive Drive Off To? And other pillow-talk topics….  This women-only workshop is a safe space to explore issues like improving your sex drive, communicating with your partner about sex, and claiming a more satisfying sex life.  Please be assured that there will be multiple avenues for sharing that respect individual  comfort levels about disclosure.

When Sexual Abuse/Assault is Impacting Your Sex Life: For Survivors  After you live through sexual trauma, sex can become something that you “tolerate” for your partner or avoid all-together.  This workshop is a safe space to learn ways to minimize the negative impact of trauma on your sexual expression and build a healing and healthy sex life. This workshop is offered two ways: with other survivors or with other couples.  Be assured that there will be multiple avenues for sharing that respect individual comfort levels about disclosure. PARENTING WORKSHOPS         (top)

“The Talk”:  How to talk to your kid about sex/sexual abuse.  Far too often our children’s questions about sex and sexual abuse get turned away as we wait for some day in the future when it is appropriate to have “The Talk” with them.  Unfortunately, by the time we determine that day has arrived, they are filled with misinformation and their ears can already be shut.  This workshop is designed to help you better understand your child’s sexual development and behavior, how to answer questions they will ask, and how to help decrease your childs’ risk of experiencing sexual abuse.

Parenting Skills 101.  Shows like Nanny 911 have such a following because parents are often in need of consultation about their children and they are looking everywhere for help.  It is cliché, but true, children do not come with “How To” manuals.   This workshop is an avenue to get strategies targeted to your family’s individual needs as well as develop skills that you can use at home in the days and years to come.
